Call for Artists - 2026

Calling all emerging musicians in Halifax! The Inventions Concert Series is seeking solo musicians, duos, and groups to apply to be the next Inventions artist. 

During the Inventions process, artists are mentored by a team of composers to expand their original ideas into large orchestral/choral works. They will then have the chance to rehearse and perform those works alongside a large community orchestra and choir in an immersive and dynamic rock show that draws in hundreds of concert-goers.

Participating in Inventions provides local musicians with the unique opportunity to 

• Create deeper connections with their community

• Grow as artists and develop their craft

• Provide and receive mentorship

• Work with professional composers to score their original works for orchestra

• Perform their original music on a large scale to new audiences
  
  

Inventions is a paid opportunity and seeks to compensate artists fairly for their time throughout each phase of the Inventions process. 

Applications will open on January 5th, 2026 and are due by February 18th, 2026. All applications will be reviewed by a jury of artists and music professionals. Priority will be given to African Nova Scotian and Indigenous artist applicants.
