Looking for a spot to play music? Interested in performing in an orchestra? Or singing in a choir?

Whatever your age, skill level, or instrument, you're welcome with us. 

Inventions is a large-scale community music program that features local emerging professional musicians, reimagining their original songs for performance by a large community orchestra and choir. 

Over ten weeks, we will learn and rehearse the music of four local, emerging musicians - Yung St4k, ADINA, Ali Enriquez, and Blessing Tangban. Then, the Inventions Orchestra and Choir will perform alongside these artists in Halifax's biggest community rock show!

An audition will be required for all orchestra and choir members. If the word “audition” is scary to you, don’t worry. Everyone gets in! The purpose of the audition is to allow us to get to know you and understand your music skill level to best place you within the orchestra. Auditions are tentatively scheduled for Saturday August 15, 2026, Friday September 4, 2026, and Saturday September 5, 2026. Time/location will be confirmed after registration. 

Registration fees: The registration fee for the term (September-November) is $200 per orchestra/choir member. Your contribution helps us to put on the best community rock show that we can, ensures artists and organizers receive fair compensation for their work on Inventions, and supports the overall sustainability of the program.

Key dates for this term:

• Orchestra and Choir Orientation - September 8th, 2026

• Rehearsals Begin - Tuesday, September 15th, 2026. Rehearsals will take place weekly at the All Saints Cathedral in Halifax on Tuesday evenings at the following times:

  1. • Orchestra: 5:30-7:15 PM

     • Choir: 7:30-9:15 PM

• Dress Rehearsal - Tuesday November 17th, 2026

• Final Performances - Thursday November 19th, 2026 (evening) and Saturday November 21st, 2026 (daytime and evening)

Refund policy: If you withdraw before Thursday September 17, 2026, you will be issued a full refund. If you withdraw after Thursday September 17, 2026 no refund will be issued.
